Why Oxford buildings need fire damper testing
Oxford's building stock pulls in several directions at once. The university and college estate is largely historic and listed — mechanical ventilation threaded through centuries-old fabric, with fire dampers in constrained risers and roof voids that first have to be found. The Oxford University Hospitals estate, the John Radcliffe and the Churchill among them, carries extensive healthcare ductwork tested on a strict annual cycle. How the testing works
Wherever the building is, the method is the same: we locate and register every fire damper, physically drop-test each one to confirm it closes, repair or replace any that fail, and issue full certification — in line with BS 9999:2017 and HTM 03-01, at intervals not exceeding 12 months.
