Why Manchester buildings need fire damper testing
Manchester's building stock is unusually varied for damper work: dense city-centre commercial towers around Spinningfields and NOMA, a large and fast-growing student-accommodation sector, converted mills and warehouses through Ancoats and the Northern Quarter, and major healthcare and university estates. High-rise HVAC, mechanically-ventilated residential blocks and hospital ductwork all depend on fire dampers that first have to be found — often in poorly-accessible risers and ceiling voids — before they can be tested. The pace of recent development also means a lot of relatively young mechanical services are only now reaching their first and second testing cycles.

How the testing works
Wherever the building is, the method is the same: we locate and register every fire damper, physically drop-test each one to confirm it closes, repair or replace any that fail, and issue full certification — in line with BS 9999:2017 and HTM 03-01, at intervals not exceeding 12 months.
