Local coverage

Essex is covered by our London-based team as part of our M25 coverage — so sites across the county are reached directly, not as a one-off trip from far outside the region.

We regularly work across Essex and the eastern M25, including Chelmsford, Basildon, Romford, Thurrock, Brentwood and Southend.

Why Essex buildings need fire damper testing

Essex spans a wide range of buildings that generate damper work: the Thames Gateway's large logistics and distribution sheds, a substantial care-home and education sector, town-centre retail and commercial, and a growing stock of mechanically-ventilated residential around Chelmsford, Basildon and the London fringe. Warehousing and healthcare in particular tend to carry extensive ductwork, where fire dampers must be located and tested on a strict cycle.

How the testing works

Wherever the building is, the method is the same: we locate and register every fire damper, physically drop-test each one to confirm it closes, repair or replace any that fail, and issue full certification — in line with BS 9999:2017 and HTM 03-01, at intervals not exceeding 12 months. For the full detail on drop testing, standards and remedial works, see our fire damper testing service.

Common questions

Are you actually local to Essex, or travelling from far away?

We cover Essex from our London/M25 base, so it falls inside our normal working area rather than a long-distance trip.

How often do fire dampers need testing?

At intervals not exceeding 12 months under BS 9999, and annually for most systems under HTM 03-01 in healthcare settings.
