Local coverage

We have engineers based in and around Birmingham, covering the city and the wider West Midlands directly — no long-distance mobilisation, and no travel loaded onto the quote.

We regularly work across Birmingham and the West Midlands, including Solihull, Wolverhampton, Coventry, West Bromwich, Dudley and Walsall.

Why Birmingham buildings need fire damper testing

Birmingham carries one of the largest public-sector estates outside London — major NHS acute sites, a dense university and student-housing sector, and a substantial city-centre office and hospitality core around Colmore Row and Brindleyplace. Add the region's heavy logistics and light-industrial base and there is a great deal of mechanically-ventilated building whose fire dampers sit in long duct runs and plant rooms. Much of the 1960s–80s public estate also retains original ductwork, where dampers are hard to locate and are frequently found seized on the first test.

How the testing works

Wherever the building is, the method is the same: we locate and register every fire damper, physically drop-test each one to confirm it closes, repair or replace any that fail, and issue full certification — in line with BS 9999:2017 and HTM 03-01, at intervals not exceeding 12 months. For the full detail on drop testing, standards and remedial works, see our fire damper testing service.

Common questions

Our building is from the 1970s — will the dampers even be findable?

Often they take some finding. On older West Midlands estates we survey the ductwork first to build an accurate damper register, then test against it so nothing is missed.

Do you cover the wider West Midlands?

Yes — Solihull, Coventry, Wolverhampton and the Black Country are all worked from our regional base.
