Overview
Across seven occupied buildings at a government headquarters, Premier Compliance delivered a complete fire-safety upgrade — fire doors, fire dampers and firestopping — running all three work packages in parallel to minimise time on site.
Challenges
- Seven different building designs, each needing the correct damper and wall solution.
- Fire doors from 2004 — we recommended targeted remedials over wholesale replacement to deliver value, researching original specifications and liaising with manufacturers for approved repair techniques.
- Ceiling alterations to reach dampers and firestopping above suspended ceilings.
- A building housing highly sensitive operations, requiring the highest security clearance.
- Live, occupied offices throughout.
What we did
- Replaced 50 fire doors and carried out remedials on 250+ existing doors — all certified under BM Trada.
- Replaced 400 fire dampers, each correctly installed and firestopped.
- Comprehensive firestopping across all seven buildings, certified under the IFC scheme.
- Full O&M documentation to future-proof the estate's maintenance.
Outcome
Every fire door, damper and firestopping element brought up to standard — delivered on schedule, with a targeted remedial approach that saved the client significant cost, and minimal disruption even in high-security areas.
